Dil Se Re, Masti Ki Paathshala, Yeh Jo Des Hai Mera And Others; AR Rahman’s Songs That Could Have Been Bigger Chartbusters
Music composer and singer A R Rahman’s songs have managed to entertain everyone. His songs are loved by many and fans enjoy almost every one of it. The Academy-winning music composer is known for the soothing composition and songs that are a treat to the ear. From songs like Sil Se Re, Masti Ki Paathshala, Yeh Jo Des Hai Mera, Masakali and others; here's a list of A R Rahman's songs that would have been bigger chartbusters if they were not used as background score.

Dil Se Re:  A R Rahman’s smouldering song of love featured passionate montage shots of Shah Rukh Khan and Manisha Koirala. If it had been lip-synced by the hot pair the song had the potential to be another Chaiyya Chaiyya.

Masakali: It’s inexplicable why this catchy song in Delhi 6 was put in the background. Except for Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s aversion to characters singing on screen, there was no reason to put the number in the background.

Masti Ki Paathshala:  Aamir Khan’s signature steps in Rang De Basanti , and his joie de vivre as he danced and sang with his co-stars. But please note, no one on the screen was singing this catchy number.

Fanaa: Super dancing by Kareena and Viveik Oberoi. But jeez, why were they not lip –syncing this catchy number????

Rubaraoo: Another potential chartbuster from Rang de Basanti , lost in the transition from Rahman’s soul to screen because...well...no one on screen claimed (read: lip-synced) the song.

Yeh Jo Des Hai Mera: The Swades anthem, a favourite on Independence Day...how much it would have benefited from Shah Rukh’s active participation.

Rut Aa Gayee Re: Deepa Mehta put this ultra-romantic number in 1947 Earth in  the background, with Aamir Khan and Nandita Das riding through sasro fields on a bicycle. If only Aamir had sung to his screen beloved.

Kaise Mujhe Tum Mil Gaye: Funny, how Aamir Khan keeps recurring in Rahman's roster of outstanding songs. This one sung by Benny Dayal was again part of the background.

Sooha Saha: Alia Bhatt crooned the track. So, why was she not seen singing the song on screen?

Lukka chuppi: The Goddess of all melodious, Lata Mangeshkar got together with Rahman to sing this touching mother-son song. Alas, fated to remain unsung on screen! Think of what impact this rare lullaby would have.
